EXCERPT:
She didn’t resist, not even for a second, but melted against him and rested her head in the hollow of his shoulder. With the silent seconds ticking by, he closed his eyes and breathed her in, savoring the feel of her breasts pressing against his chest.
“I thought you might need that after yesterday,” he murmured as he pulled back.
“I did, thank you. It’s a wonderful start to the afternoon,” she replied, staring up at him.
Though he was tempted to lean in and kiss her, he held back. The energy between them was crackling. If he did, it was entirely possible they’d never leave the house.
“Are you ready to go?” he asked softly.
“Yes, and I’m so looking forward to this. It’s been way too long since I sat on a horse.”
“Then let’s do it,” he said with a smile, picking up the paper sack.
Following her out, he glanced around the house. It didn’t feel like a home, but more like a temporary place to hang her hat. The mystery surrounding Rebecca Clark was growing.
